How I Cured My Hemorrhoids
Even though it’s been almost ten years, I still clearly remember the first moment I felt the awful, piercing, miserable pain of hemorrhoids. I had just had my first son, and almost flew off the commode when it came time to have a bowel movement. I was surprised and completely horrified. My mother calmly explained to me that I had probably developed hemorrhoids and no, they would not just magically “go away”.
Thus began my search for the best treatment for hemorrhoids. The most common advice is truly the most important. Straining during bowel movements inflames the hemorrhoids further. It is important that you do not strain. If it won’t happen naturally, so to speak, then try walking around to help get things moving without straining.
There are also ways to prevent straining from being necessary to begin with. What you eat plays a major role in how easy bowel movements will be. Be sure to drink plenty of water. Your goal is eight to ten large glasses a day. In addition to drinking more water, you will also want to increase your fiber intake. Apples are an excellent source of fiber. Whole grains and vegetables should also be increased to get more fiber. There are fiber supplements that can be taken to soften bowel movements, helping to prevent straining. Psyllium is available in a pill or powder. Flaxseeds can also be used. As the straining is reduced, you will find that itching and pain are also reduced.
There are a variety of creams and pads available to help ease haemorrhoid discomfort. However, the best treatment for hemorrhoids is the one that prevents them from causing pain and misery to begin with.
