Vinnie Angelo
Born on September 8, 1978, Vinnie has always been around music. His Dad, a music lover, and former drummer, constantly was exposing him to music. After moving to Antioch, California, at the age of fourteen, Vinnie discovered his dads old drum set, packed away in boxes. After setting it up, he realized he had a natural bond with the instrument. Once the self taught drummer got into high school (Antioch High School) Vinnie joined the schools Marching Band. There he learned about music theory, and rudiments.
By the time his Senior year in High School came around, Vinnie was writing music for his school, teaching other high schools, and private students. Gigging regularly, winning awards from IAJE, and performing in groups like the Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps.
After high school, Vinnie spent two years at Los Medanos College, in Pittsburg, Ca. There he was in the ‘A’ Jazz band, and Principal Percussionist, of the Wind Ensemble. Vinnie also served in the Percussion section for the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, for the 1998-99 season.While in College, Vinnie was the head writer, and instructor for various schools, and drum corps, such as, Antioch High School, Deer Valley HS, The Concord Blue Devils ‘B’ drum corps, and others.
Now out of College, Vinnie is a certified percussion judge with the Northern California Band Association. Judged the Guitar Center “Drum Off” in 1999. Teaches privately, at Gills Music, in Antioch. Coaches Percussion, and the Jazz Rhythm Section at Las Lomas High School, in Walnut Creek.
As a player, Vinnie has played all over the US, in venues such as Davies Symphony Hall, Mile High Stadium, Disneyland LA, the Concord Pavilion etc.
During the summer of 1999, Vinnie made his first “International Tour”, when going over to France with the band “The Motivators.” For this seven week tour, the band played at Festivals throughout France, and venues such as Disneyland Paris. Vinnie endorses Thumper Custom Drums.
